The Dungeon occupies the lowest section of Maison O, in other words it is the bottom of the tank. While the top two floors occupy the upper half of the 50' diameter tank the dungeon sits in the bottom half. It features the most custom features of the house and has 20' ceilings creating a 2000 sq ft medieval playscape.

The Dungeon is centered around our 'round table; which in this case is a round bar, featuring seating for ten. This is a fully equipped wet bar with a full back bar that includes a bottle cooler, two tap beer system and a dishwasher. Gaurding the bar are our two knights. As you can see the floor is all brick. In fact the floor and walls of the dungeon are over two feet of solid brick!
In this shot you can also see the upper wall of the dungeon featuring an exterior of stone and accented with castle windows and flaming sconces. The Dungeon is always a work in progress and new pics are posted regularly. In this pic in the upper right hand corner you can see construction of the new entry which is shown completed below.
Behold our new entry! Featuring an an arch at the top and brass dragons at the bottom. You can also see the continuation of the 'castle wall' from the upper photo with more stone and windows. A new custom millwork staircase has been added as a grand entry to the dungeon floor
The temporary staircase has been been replaced with a new custom staircase featuring custom millwork and two brass dragons!
This is a shot at the top of the new entry way. On the right is new wall of castle brick to continue the main wall, and a new floor. This project had its challenges. First finding the material - we managed to find a local mill that had a pile of aged, red oak so we had them plane it on one side and true up the edges for us. The finished planks are an amazing 1" thick 5 to 14" wide and beautifully clear. It was installed using simple butt joints and fastened with hand poured rosehead nails for an authentic look. Th result was then stained a dark gray
The library is located under the new landing and is accessed from a door next to the bar. Inside some amazing work was done to create a massive bookshelf that follows the curve of the house. To being the entire brick wall was cleaned and sealed to eliminate brick dust from getting into the books. Each shelf was templated, cut and placed. We incorporated the supporting structure of the landing into the shelving using it to create the vertical dividers. Built to last 100 years, the shelves are 1.5" thick and then finished with a bull nose trim and hand poured nails. Finish was a coat of Provincial stain and two coats of poly. We also had to paint the ceiling black and install lighting and electrical to complete the room. This room is not available to the public as it holds the Masters personal library.
Check out these amazing doors that we recently acquired! These are solid wood and will be
installed in a new work designed to hide some of the 'everyday' elements like the water heater
and furnace. More images soon as this area progresses.
