The Dungeon

This is the recently finished entrance into the Dungeon featuring a true gothic staircase complete with an arch at the top and a pair of brass dragons on the newels. Above is the main deck that provides entrance to the house and a bathroom.

The floor of the dungeon is the genuine brick floor that is two feet thick and once comprised the floor of the water tank. The Dungeon was meant to be authentic so we have added a few implements of torture for atmosphere!

THE landing

New Real Oak Floor

This is a shot at the top of the new entry way. On the right is new wall of castle brick to continue the main wall, and a new floor. This project had its challenges. First finding the material - we managed to find a local mill that had a pile of aged, red oak so we had them plane it on one side and true up the edges for us. The finished planks are an amazing 1" thick 5 to 14" wide and beautifully clear. It was installed using simple butt joints and fastened with hand poured rosehead nails for an authentic look. Th result was then stained a dark gray. You can also see one of the four custom 'windows' that provide some amazing atmosphere.

Library progress

Shelving is done

The library is located under the new landing and is accessed from a door next to the bar. Inside some amazing work was done to create a massive bookshelf that follows the curve of the house. To begin the entire brick wall was cleaned and sealed to eliminate brick dust from getting into the books. Each shelf was templated, cut and placed. We incorporated the supporting structure of the landing into the shelving using it to create the vertical dividers. Built to last 100 years, the shelves are 1.5" thick and then finished with a bull nose trim and hand poured nails. Finish was a coat of Provincial stain and two coats of poly.  We also had to paint the ceiling black and install lighting and electrical to complete the room.  This room is not available to the public as it holds the Masters personal library.

New Doors Coming Soon!

Check out these amazing doors that we recently acquired! These are solid walnut, nearly 200 years old and will be installed in a new work designed to hide some of the 'everyday' elements like the water heater

and furnace. More images soon as this area progresses.

The Tower

Newest Addition

Here you can see how the doors were incorporated into the 'tower' a structure that we built to hide some of the homes mechanicals. You can also see our 'round table' featuring some of the most amazing chairs you will ever see (more on these later) and one of three massive overhead lights that were salvaged from a demolished hotel. The cabinet in the corner is from the late 1700s

The round bar

Dungeon Bar

The Round Bar seats 8. This shot shows one side of the bar. The bar features tons of under counter shelving a bottle stand and wine rack in the middle and a complete back bar featuring a sink, two beverage coolers, more storage and even a dishwasher. In this photo you can see the massive column that extends from this floor, rising up 34' feet to the top of the house. Two knights in armor stand guard.

The 'Pit' conversation space

To the left of the bar is our comfortable seating area featuring a massive sectional that can seat 8-10. There is also a flat screen television here for watching the jousting tournaments.

the round table

Knights of the Round Table

When you live in a round house, with a round bar, you have to have a round table and this is ours. The table is a beautiful 8' Tommy Bahama classic clawfoot table. The chairs are antiques from Germany and feature hand carved eagles on the top of each and covered in red velvet. Truly a table meant for drinking and the telling of tales.
